Tips for your Business on Facebook

Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. To not use it in some way for your business or marketing is a BIG mistake. A study in 2019 found that it had 2.375 billion users per month with 1.49 billion people using it daily. That alone is a pretty hefty share of the population you’re not normally able to have access to by traditional advertising strategies. In 2020 we are all aware about how companies use tailored ads to try and get us to buy their products. That isn’t what I’m here to talk about today.  What I am here to do is to show you some ways to make it work for your company.

Do your research

This is pretty basic stuff and it’s part of the work you will have undoubtedly have done when researching what your company’s focus is. However, this extends to your social media as well. For instance the store Superdry uses far more images and videos since their target audience is primarily younger people. Edinburgh Woollen Mill on the other hand uses images and also has blogs with designers that they use as a cornerstone of their marketing approach which is mostly people in the 40+ range. Knowing who your demographics are and how they generally interact with the platform will help you tailor your approach in the long term.

Don’t Post too often on Facebook

Now this might seem like an odd thing for me to say but it does have some merit. If you bombard your customers or potential clients with ads it will do one of two things.  One it will make you look like you have nothing going on and therefore begging for work or two make them unfollow or block your content from appearing on their feeds. It might seem harmless to post your blog posts 8 times a day but with each of those posts the likelihood of someone clicking on your content or links diminishes. It is far better to do a single post daily and it be of a good standard than too often and sub-par. Essentially, quality over quantity should be your mantra.

Be varied

This links into the above points. Facebook is an odd nexus when it comes to social media utilising a lot of the selling points of other platforms. It has image and video sharing, the same as Instagram and YouTube, but it also utilises the status and article sharing of Twitter or LinkedIn. This means that when advertising on Facebook you have a wide range of tools at your disposal when selling your brand or product. Don’t be afraid to try things out and see what works for you and make it your own.

Analyse your findings

Facebook has a feature that allows you to track and see how well your page is doing. It can show you when you get the most clicks, what days of the week get you the most traffic, what kind of content works on your page. Don’t simply throw out content into the void of the internet, learn all you can from it, use these findings to help improve and tailor your approach for the future.
